Founded by the late great Harry Belafonte in 2005 and led since 2010 by President and CEO, Carmen Perez-Jordan, The Gathering for Justice is an intergenerational movement-building organization that integrates rapid response direct actions, nonviolent civil disobedience, education and youth leadership training, policy advocacy and arts and culture to achieve racial justice and equity for our communities.
The Gathering has trained and united leaders in the movement for racial justice, grounded in the ideology of nonviolent resistance and collective power inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
