Fundraising Consultant
The Gathering for Justice is seeking a passionate and results-driven Fundraising Consultant to support our mission to transform the criminal legal system and advance civil rights to build a beloved community grounded in justice, equity, and compassion. We are looking for a strategic partner who can help us identify funding opportunities, craft compelling grant proposals, and cultivate donor relationships.
About The Gathering for Justice
Founded by Harry Belafonte, The Gathering for Justice has been at the forefront of nonviolent social justice activism for nearly two decades. Through our work, we empower communities, train new generations of activists, and advance policy changes that address systemic inequities.
Scope of Work
We are seeking a consultant to provide focused fundraising support on a contract basis. Key responsibilities include:
Grant Writing & Research: Identify and apply for relevant grants from foundations and philanthropic institutions.
Donor Engagement: Develop strategies to cultivate relationships with new and existing donors.
Fundraising Campaigns: Assist in planning and executing grassroots fundraising efforts.
Corporate & Major Donor Outreach: Support outreach to high-net-worth individuals and corporate sponsors.
Strategic Development: Provide recommendations for long-term fundraising sustainability.
Compensation & Commitment
Budget: $10,000–$15,000 (contract-based, negotiable based on experience and deliverables)
Duration: Flexible, approximately 3–6 months with a defined scope of work
Hours: Part-time, project-based
Location: Remote (New York or California based candidates are a plus but not required)
Ideal Candidate
Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations
Strong research and writing skills with a track record of securing funding
A deep understanding of social justice movements and commitment to racial equity
Ability to work independently while aligning with The Gathering for Justice’s values and mission
