Part-time Accountant (30-40% time)

Through our work, we empower communities, train new generations of activists, and advance policy changes that address systemic inequities.
Job Summary
The Gathering for Justice seeks an experienced, detail-oriented Accountant to manage a range of financial responsibilities. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Accountant will support the organization’s financial recordkeeping and grant management.
Accounting:
General bookkeeping included AP/AR, preparing and posting payroll journal entries, bank reconciliations
Maintain all aspects of Quickbooks Online account, updating vendors, donors, pledges, etc.
Categorize all transactions according to donor/project
Accurately maintain all records, including but not limited to invoices, receipts, W9s, contracts, grant agreements and audits in accordance with GAAP
Provide Director of Operations with support, as needed
Assistant with annual audit and 990 process
Issue 1099s to independent contractors
Grant Support:
Manage grant invoicing process and compliance
Monitor and re-allocate expenses, as needed
Review budgets and prepare budget modifications
Prepare invoices for reimbursement of grant expenses
Prepare required financial reports for donors
Track FTE timesheets and expenditures to donor and project
Requirements
At least 3 years of accounting experience with a non-profit organization
At least 2 years experience with Quickbooks Online
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other advanced certification such as Certified Management Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, or Certified Bookkeeper (CB), is preferred
Experience using Bill.com AP/AR and Bill Spend and Expense or similar
Strong Excel skills including the regular use of pivot tables/vlookups for analysis and reporting
Understanding of nonprofit GAAP and compliance
Detail oriented and extremely organized
Experience with grant financial tracking and reporting; experience with government grants is a plus.
Able to meet deadlines and communicate in a timely manner
Strong interpersonal skills with a high level of integrity and sound judgment and ability to communicate and work collaboratively across the organization openly and with respect
Salary Range: $2,500/month
