THE MARCH FOR STOLEN LIVES AND LOOTED DREAMS
On Saturday, June 6th, we raise our voices and hit the streets of New York City for #theTakeBack! When we say Black Lives Matter, we mean no more stolen lives and no more looted dreams.
Meet at the Frederick Douglass Statue at 110th Street & Central Park West / Saturday, June 6, 2020 10:00 am
#THETAKEBACK DEMANDS:
1. NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea and Mayor Bill de Blasio MUST hold officers accountable for their actions--not only when they murder Black people, but when they disproportionately target them for arrests in subways, and when they prey on Black and brown communities with racist programs like Broken Windows.
Fire ALL the officers involved with Eric Garner’s death
Fire Officer Wayne Isaacs who murdered Delrawn Small
Fire Officer Vincent D’Andraia and NYPD Commander Craig Edelman for the assault on Dounya Zayer
Fire the officers who assaulted Akbar Rogers in Freeport, Long Island
Fire Sgt. Hugh Barry for the shooting death of Deborah Danner
2. The City MUST cut the NYPD budget & redirect all funds to safety nets & key needs for Black and Brown communities, including immediately reinstating the Summer Youth Employment Program, CUNY ASAP (Accelerated Study in Associate Programs) and fully funding K-12 education.
3. Governor Cuomo and the New York State Legislature must Repeal 50-A, the Police Secrecy Law. The state and city of New York must endorse police transparency and accountability at all levels of law enforcement.
4. The Mayor MUST work with the City Council to pass and sign into law the Anti-Chokehold Bill, to criminalize the illicit NYPD practice. We’re also calling on the New York State legislature to pass the statewide Anti-Chokehold Bill.
5. We call for the immediate resignation of NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea, for his failure to hold officers accountable for the brutality unleashed on protesters.

Use this social media toolkit to uplift our action and demands for #TheTakeBack
Use this toolkit to call and/or email New York State Representatives to Repeal 50-A
50-A is a section of the New York State Civil Rights that deems the “personnel record” of police officers, firefighters and corrections officers “confidential and not subject to inspection or review” without the officer’s permission.
Only Two other states in the country have statutes that exempt police officers from public records law.

NYC: this specific link will take you to directly email city council, or to copy an email script that you can send to city council
We must stand up and #sayhername, Breonna Taylor was murdered at the hands of police in her sleep after Louisville Police illegally executed a drug raid at the wrong address. Visit this link and follow the action steps to join us in demanding #JusticeforBre
